Worthless, seemingly dishonest. I contacted Hampton July 24, 2018, saying I needed a legal fee expert, and someone to review claims against a lawyer. On August 6 he told me to provide a deposit of $1,200, and I did, and I emailed him an arbitration reply and said I needed to revise it by August 13. Hampton called me August 11, said he never got my August 7 email, but he did, and so knew nothing about my case, then spent 2.5 hours pontificating about Texas law, with folksy B.S. like: "I'm not going to sit here and blow smoke up your skirt," and "I could preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but two-thirds of the world don't believe it." He refused to review or help revise my reply, the only thing I wanted at that time. He said to only plead unreasonable fees, and drop legal malpractice, while knowing nothing about my claims, which was bad advice. When I said I didn't want to find out later I should have left them in, he changed and said to leave them in, but that, too, may have now hurt my case, as one has to be careful how they plead them - what I wanted to get from him, but didn't. I got zero value, and harm from this call. He called me August 18 for 0.8 hours solely to describe a proposal I pay him and his buddy $30,000 to represent me in the arbitration, but only to opine on the reasonableness of fees my prior attorney charged, and for me to wire that right away to him. He still never read anything about my case, knew nothing of the fees charged, and didn't even know his friend's hourly rate, so this seemed crooked. I declined. We met August 23, 2018, for 3.5 hours, and he demanded I bring $2,000 cash to this meeting to pay him up-front. He still had never looked at anything I sent him, and didn't even know the names of my suits. He let me talk about what I wanted him to opine on, but just listened and mostly stared at me. He told me he committed malpractice, getting a judgment for someone who invented a knee brace, but it being overturned on appeal due to Hampton's error. The next day he emailed me he was not going to be my expert, but would keep $2,380 of my money. I politely asked for a credit for some or all of the 0.8 hours describing his $30k proposal, which was not bill-worthy, and he refused. On August 28, 2018, I drove over to pick up documents I had left with him, and get a check for $820 returned to me, and he said his secretary would bring these downstairs. Instead, he came downstairs, handed me my documents, and held up his phone, in movie-mode, smirking, filming me, trying to intimidate me. I held the documents up to block his camera, and he moved it to his left, and his phone hit my documents, and he yelled "MOTHERF___ER!" and KICKED ME! I called the police and reported him for assault. He seems like a very unhappy person. Old people get an attitude of not caring what anyone thinks of them, or trying to do well in life any more, and that is what Carter Hampton appears as. He seems unable to focus, not into any details. Before 10 a.m. the next morning I filed an extensive complaint against him with the Texas State Bar.

Hired Carter Hampton and paid a $5,000.00 retainer. After months I called to get a status on the case. After four days waiting to return the call, I called again and finally got him on the phone. There had been no progress in preparing our case in two months and we decided to part ways.
