Dennis started his legal practice in Santa Barbara County where he observed that his clients from Montecito used inter vivos (which he called living) trusts to avoid the delay expense confusion of probate. At that time only large firms created this kind of trust and the originators were deceased. Nevertheless, the trusts continued to be created and revised by younger firm attorneys who lacked knowledge and interest needed for high quality work. Nevertheless, the trusts were extremely expensive, often disorganized and frequently uninteligible. Unfortunately, my experience with Dennis Kroeker turned out to be very disappointing. My brother and I were having issues with a solar company. The solar didn't work, our monthly payments was raised from $120 to $160 a month. Dennis contacted us online and offered his help. He told us he would get us out of the contract. We stopped paying the solar in Nov. 2022. Lender shut panels off and locked it so they could not be turned back on in Aug 2023. We were concerned about the lien on the house. He said not to worry..there is no lien. We hired him in March 2023 paying $3000 retainer that I took out a loan for. We felt comfortable our problems were in Dennis's hands. We are low-income seniors and my brother had cancer. Joe passed away June 6 2023. For a long time I didn't hear anything. I called Dennis in Oct. 2023 to see what was going on. He said he had been sick in the hospital but was starting to feel better. I talked to him again in Dec. He sent me a link to his GoFundMe page. I told him to send me an itemized billing report of what he has done (if anything) and the balance of the $3000 back. He did not earn it. He stopped responding to my messages, emails, and phone calls. Oh I forgot to mention...his GoFundMe page was from Florida. He says he is getting treatment for his cancer there. He lives in Sacramento. Plenty of excellent hospitals here. If he was so broke he had to set up a GoFundMe page why spend money going to Florida for "treatments". I also heard he let his bills go and abandoned other clients. Maybe he knew all along he was going to retire to his home in Florida.... misappropriating clients funds, not paying paralegals, or bills...running off to Florida to retire. What a huge let down he was. Avoid this man like the plague.
