I'm a real estate broker and had buyer clients who were previously represented by another real estate broker in 2018 in the purchase of ag land and two quonset huts in Maile. They were tenants and entered into a purchase agreement with the property owner who was also a real estate broker. The owner passed away unbeknownst to anyone and nobody could get in contact with her. My clients reached out to their previous broker and never got responses. They eventually decided to just wait and see what would happen. After nearly 2 years, they were surprised to be contacted by a real estate broker for the late owner's estate. The broker told them that they could either purchase the property at the then current market value of $750k or vacate within 45 days as they were tenants. They responded that they would like to have the previous contract respected at 315k. This new broker told him that the previous contract was invalid. After meeting with them and reviewing the previous contract, I determined that they may have a claim. I referred them to my attorney who then referred them to Peter. Peter was able to represent them in successfully enforcing the previous contract, thus saving them hundreds of thousands of dollars and keeping them in their home. As a result of this, I was nominated for, and received, the coveted Aloha 'Aina Realtor award in 2023. I highly recommend Peter Knapman.
