Referred me to a third party to have them screen me (Council and Advocacy law line). Took mos to reach an attorney. Denied me help in my abusive marriage because they only have five lawyers working and i wasnt physically abuse so i was disqualified. And i am too poor to pay out of pocket. As my spouse continues to blackmail, emotionally, verbally, and financially abuse me. Would not recommend this place to anyone

Try to get help with custody battle against abusive former ex husband. Currently has kids due to lies and his lawyer taking advantage that I did not have representation and don't know the laws. I was recommended to call here for help. However they are either without a practicing Family Law attorney or you never get a return call. The say its our right to have free legal aid. Yet there's nothing there to use to help us, and they don't seem to care. Try and call a different legal aid office and they tell you they can't help bc they're all only allowed to help those in their designated counties. It's bull!

Backed out in helping me even though they were supposed to do so...Having Mich Civil Rights Div look into the matter

Nearly impossible to get thru and can't leave VM. I appreciate what they do but when you need them it is near impossible to access. More funding?

They go out of their way to help those in need.
