About Law Firm

Accomplished, Aggressive and Honest
An essential component of any criminal defense effort is a high level of trust between the defendant and his or her lawyer. At the law firm of Michael A. McInerney, PLC, in Grand Rapids, I work hard from the start to establish that trust, most notably by providing straightforward information on the possible outcomes of my clients' cases and their options. Whether I am handling a traffic offense, a felony sexual assault or a white collar crime, prosecutors know that I prepare every case meticulously and that I am willing to go to trial if a fair agreement is not on the table. This provides me a position of strength to negotiate for reduced charges or alternative sentencing when that strategy makes sense.

It's Important To Act Promptly
A timely response to criminal charges is critical for a number of reasons, including an immediate investigation to recover important facts. If you face criminal charges or if you have been questioned in connection with a crime, it is a good idea to call an attorney at our office immediately. The initial consultation is free. Call 616-259-0862 or use our online contact form to schedule a meeting. We represent clients in state and federal courts throughout Michigan from our office in Grand Rapids.

This guy saved my life! The court trumped everything up on my case to 9 felonies for simply being 5 days late returning a rental vehicle!. And I have only misdemeanors on my record! He is pricey as all good lawyers should be. But really, what price do you put on your record and your freedom? If I would have stayed with court appointed, I would still probably be in jail or worse, prison! Hopefully, I will never be in such a serious situation with the court again, but if I am, I know who my first call will be to. Thank you again, Michael and please continue fighting so aggressively for your client's rights!

Mr. Mcinerney was gracious enough to allow a payment plan ($800 bi-wkly) when I contacted him in need of defense for my 19 year old son. He returned all calls and e-mails. Unfortunately, my son is now a prisoner of the Michigan Department of Corrections having plead guilty to two felony charges. Mr. Mcinerney was unsucessful in working out a better plea bargain for my son. He was also unsuccessful in convincing the Judge to sentence my son under the Holmes Youthful Training Act. I am overall disappointed in the services I received. I expected aggressive, compassionate representation to get my son the best possible outcome under the circumstances. It is sad to say but a court appointed attorney probably could have at least gotten the lesser charge dropped. I foolishly paid $2500 for these services. That money was very hard to come by. In retrospect I should have just allowed a court appointed attorney to represent my son. He either would have gotten the same results or perhaps slightly better. I don't feel that Mr. Macinerney truly put in much effort towards working out a plea deal or compassionately advocating for the Holmes youthful training act. It feels as if he simply got paid to "befriend" my son on his way to prison... Thank you for respecting my opinion. I would not recommend his services to anyone.

I believe he's a good criminal lawyer but lacks on the driving law aspect. When the plea was offered I asked what punishment came with it. What he told me and what I got were two different things. When I signed up with him I told him the main goal and well that didn't happen. Seemed scared to go any route but plea. If he couldn't or wouldn't do what I wanted him to I would have hired someone else. If he was more up on the driving law (criminal and driving are separate now) and told me what was going to actually occur if I plead to what I did, I would have never accepted it. If he didn't make it sound like he knew what he was doing with the consultation I wouldn't have hired him. If you're up for anything driving related go somewhere else. Talked to three other lawyers since conviction and well he wasn't knowledgeable in the area for sure

Mr. McInerney was very helpful throughout my legal process. The entire time reassuring me I was in good hands and he was going to do everything possible was very comforting. I wouldn't hesitate to you use him again and I would definitely recommend him to others.

Mr. McInerney provided me the best help I could ask for. He was very understanding with my situation and did a great job working with the judge. He was also very affordable and seemed more out there to help people than make money. I highly recommend his services.
