They tried lying to me and telling me a court ruling would result in a higher repayment than what they were offering. I don't trust lawyers so I let it go to court, my court ordered repayment is half of what they were offering... they know what formula the court is going to use and what your repayment will be so they try to squeeze you for more by saying you should take their offer bc the court will make you pay a lot more.
The associates 2 separate calls had nothing to say could care less about what I had to say Had no clue But was able to tell me they sent me a debt owed months ago . Never got another letter until about a week ago. When I told her the amount was incorrect because it was almost triple what I supposedly owed she told me it was because it was in accruing penalty interest daily. She even had the audacity to charge me the daily fee as I was paying the bill. They should be ashamed of themselves the first bill should’ve been sent way before she said they sent it if that’s the case. to wait this long to send another one while it accrued all this fee . Another way for greedy ????to squeeze (thieve ) as much as they can from you . It’s appalling . Oh and if you tell them that you’re need time to look into it give you a few days they still charge you the FEES . Unbelievable .
You can't contact anyone. Everything always least to a voice-mail with no callback. Makes working with time sensitive issues near impossible.
I asked for this law firm to resend a fax for a second time to an agency where I needed a release of garnishment and I was told, no. I explained and even apologized for the request needing resent but also told the lady it was needed for underwriting as I was trying to purchase a home. I was still dismissed and I even sent another 10 emails to other staff members and was ignored by all. I’m down to having one day left before the purchase contract is pulled and all I asked for was a resubmission of a faxed paid in full letter. I definitely feel discriminated against. I understand they all have jobs to do but to be ignored and have to deal with people of this nature is disheartening. I will also send a complaint to the BBB, although they are not accredited.
Interesting business. While I appreciate that the world needs debt collectors, this firm definitely stacks the deck in their favor by printing 15 day letters on dot matrix printers, so the letter that explains a consumer's rights to work to avoid wage garnishment, for example, is nearly completely illegible. They comply with Ohio law, but at the bare minimum by sending a "statement of mailing," but don't send important legal correspondence certified, or via fax to ensure receipt. My sending correspondence, inclusive of payment, certified, via Priority Mail took 4 business days to be acknowledged, and that was only after I sent an email and then had to have a phone call because this "firm" doesn't use encrypted email. I know my correspondence was received, because I had all the tracking information fortunately. In addition, they do not do standard monthly ACH payments, as anyone collecting payments for an alleged debt would do - you need to actually CALL them and provide a payment over the phone for every single payment you need to make. This all adds up to setting up as many inconveniences as possible, which will ensure a high number of payments not arriving timely, thereby allowing this firm to pad their income with fees or defaults, instead of truly working with consumers to resolve a debt. So, TL;DR - shady business practices that are barely legal or dubious that work against consumers who are trying to resolve an allegation of a debt that needs to be paid should be called out every single time.
