I was referred to Joel and retained him the moment I met him. As a younger father that was served custody papers out of the blue, you could say I was very nervous. After one visit with Joel and his assistant Jessica I knew I had the best shot to settle things faster and less painfully. They were incredibly professional from the moment we started working together. At anytime I was able to contact one of them for any questions I had or advice one how to handle an interaction with my Ex. They value doing things with the least amount of conflict possible but also handle it in a direct manner. I am 25 years old with a 18 month old and have 50% parenting time, joint legal custody and no child support. There are very few attorneys that could help you accomplish this. Be completely transparent with Joel and Jessica and they will do everything in there power to help. I met with 5 or so attorneys before these guys and they were the most professional and motivated to keep the peace between both parties. I value that a lot since the only one who suffers from the conflict is your child. I would refer them to anyone I know. They treat you like family and care about your child’s quality of life, present and future.
For my divorce, I worked with Attorney Brent Wilkins. My friends and family recommended this firm as the best in Bend. They were correct. At the start, I was extremely worried about my future and the impact this would have on my family. This was a complicated divorce financially, with stock option valuations and retirement assets. Brent carefully listened to my worries, was very clear about the legal aspects involved, and brought in additional expertise (including Attorney Kent) when he believed it would be helpful. He responded to my calls and emails quickly, even when he had court dates and was in trial. He is very intelligent and does not miss details when looking through discovery. I had handed him a large financial mess to wade through... and he made sense of it. His suggestions, as we moved forward, took into account many aspects of future needs I had not anticipated. He was also kind and supportive throughout the process and understands the legal climate in Bend well. It has been six months since my divorce was finalized and I am incredibly grateful to have had Brent as my attorney.
I worked with Kyle Piro for many years for my divorce and custody issues. Kyle and his team were always very helpful, responsive and dedicated to making sure our final agreement was in the best interest of my kids and myself. I can't thank them enough.
I have had the very great misfortune of dealing with this firm, and they have cost me a lot of money, and more importantly their incompetence has cost me a lot of time with my children. When I say they have cost me a lot of money, I'm not just talking about legal fees (though they definitely wasted a lot of my money there as well); I'm talking about oversights and mistakes that ended up costing me close to $100,000. At the end of the day, money is just money, but these people who were supposed to be helping me also cost me hundreds, if not thousands, of hours with my children. My attorney claimed, in his own words, to be an excellent litigator, and when it came time to litigate, he did very little. He asked no questions. He did not present evidence which I had provided him. He dismissed constant perjury from the other side as "no big deal". It ended up feeling like he was working against me, not for me. So when I went to fire him, the firm pulled a "you can't fire me, I quit". Incredibly unprofessional and unethical. Stay far away from these people. They won't help you or your family, they just want to extract as much money from you as possible.
When seeking out an attorney regarding a post divorce matter, I was pointed in the direction of Stahancyk, Kent & Hook more than once. Fate steered me to Attorney Ken Goodin, who represented me and my case, which was one of the most uncomfortable experiences in my life. Ken walked me through the process, listened to my concerns and clearly explained the process and possible outcomes. While sometimes I did more of the reaching out for a progress report, he was quick to respond and acted on my behalf very timely. I highly recommend Ken to anyone seeking sound counsel! Thank you Ken!!
