Reviews

I've had an awesome experience with Stearns-Montgomery and Proctor Law firm. Atty. Belinda Martin was a great listener, understanding, and assertive. Having her as my attorney was the best decision I made for my divorce case. She was extremely knowledgeable, especially concerning child welfare and care! The entire team was very nice, patient, and timely during the process. I felt at ease and a burden relieved once she took over my case. She went over and beyond in my case. My expectations were exceeded. I would definitely recommend services!
I did a lot of research in terms of finding a suitable attorney to help with my divorce case. I found Miss Myia Robinson as one of the top rated attorneys in Georgia to work with. She was extremely candid and professional .She delivered on her promise of getting my divorce sorted out in the shortest possible time and with the least amount of financial exposure to both parties. Thank you so much!
The worst experience ever... it's sad that this company takes advantage of people in their most vulnerable state. I paid $3500 in a retainer and my husband was served which about$300 then I received communication from them that needed another $1600 to move forward with my case. When I asked what my $3500 was used for the response was it was used to serve my husband and file with courts. Mind you my husband and I have no joint property and have been separated for 7 years I just needed assistance filing. This should've been a easy and simple process. They made it complicated and tried to exploit me for their own financial gain.
I had nothing less than an awesome experience with Stearns-Montgomery and Proctor Law firm. Atty. Dominic Jones was amazing! He’s very and knowledgeable in what he does! He and his team were very nice, patient, and timely in all that they do. I would definitely recommend services and would work with them again if I had to in the future!
Updated Review: Dropped to 1 Star after speaking with Director of Client Relations. 20 minute of my time wasted when all they wanted to do was ask why I mentioned something they already apolgized about (as if it becomes less significant after an apology) suggest that I was at fault for not seeing the email they sent about reaching out to them with my concerns during the case and ask me to change my review so I am changing it per her request. I have been asked multiple times to leave an honest review of the SMP Law Firm so here it is: Though our outcome was what we wanted we found several aspects of our time with SMP to be frustrating. We spoke with attorney Judy upon intake of our case and only communicated through her team until our first court date in October. The first court date was supposed to be an uncontested adoption to be heard at 9am. We didn’t find out until the morning of court that SMP would be sending a different attorney to represent us and that attorney was caught behind a traffic accident and would be late. Our assigned attorney (admittedly there was nothing she could have done other than leave earlier) was not in court at 9am when our case was called. The bio mother of the children showed up to the court at 9:20am asking for a continuance. If Catherine was on time that day it's possible we could have been done in 15 min. (15 min. is what was reserved from the judge’s calendar) and out of court before bio-mom even showed up. It’s possible even in that case the judge would have allowed a continuance but it made the day extremely frustrating and caused emotional turmoil for myself, my wife and the adoptive juveniles. The continuance was rescheduled for 90 days. At this time, the attorney team set out our options for moving forward with a now “contested” adoption. We agreed to paying an additional $1,500 to to have Judy Sartain draft a limited discovery to solidify our case against bio-mom as well as providing an additional retainer of several thousand dollars to cover court in January. This retainer was used prior to court and we were asked to pay another amount prior to court. When court in January came around, Judy Sartain did reach out to us to review the case the week before court. Even though we had provided a TON of information before, we were told by Judy that if she didn’t have it written down she could not be expected to remember it. My wife and I spent hours coming up with an updated document with quick reference points for Judy to use in court. The day of court, the only notes we saw her use for reference was the sheet we provided her the day of court. Judy is VERY confident in her abilities. Nearly every conversation with her is scattered with anecdotes about how successful she is as an attorney and how many people know and admire her and how well she knows the laws and helped write them. This may be the case but we didn’t see it. It had more of the feeling of a college student who crammed the night before the final and squeaked by with a passing grade and then patted herself on the back. The orders that Judy had her team prepare had to be re-written by Judge Deal’s team because of Judy’s lack of clarification with us of whether we had Guardianship or Custody of the children. This re-writing took nearly an hour after the case was finished and we stood outside the courtroom getting charged by Judy while this was being revised. It was revealed by Judge Deal to Ms. Sartain that the way she crafted the TPR case and Adoption Case separately added to the confusion and time spent on the case. After the adoption was finalized, we expected our case to be closed with SMP. It was not told to us that we needed to send copies of the new birth certificates when we received them so our account stayed open another 3 months after court and we received invoices after court for discussions had about our case. Our frustration comes from a perception of a disheveled Attorney and being nickled and dimed for every penny possible in invoices. We are thankful things ended in our favor but it was not due to Judy.
