DO NOT USE THEM FOR MEDICAID APPLICATIONS Very poor experience, no follow through and insanely overpriced! Be aware your initial meeting is not with the attorney that will be assigned to you, it is designed to sell you on the fees that appear to be based on the up front financial information you provided them. The initial meeting has a timeshare pitch feel to it, "you can't afford not to hire us" tone. Carrier Law promised my father he would get more than the $31,000 they were charging. THIRTY ONE THOUSAND to review a trust, wills, do two property transfers and apply for Medicaid!!! I suspect the fees are based on how much they think you can afford to pay. From the time they took the $31,000 it took 7 months to apply for Medicaid due to their own incompetence: 1. They never started on the project for over 6 weeks after they were hired. Medicaid applications have an urgency, clearly Carrier Law isn't equipped for urgent Medicaid applications. 2. They struggled for 5 months to do a simple instate property transfer. 3. They could not find a Florida attorney to work with them on a property transfer which I find odd since many Michigan residents have property in Florida. My corporate law firm has never had a problem finding out of state attorney's to work with. I'm sure there is something they weren't being honest about. 4. There was a name issue with the property deed and the name of the trust. My 86 year old father came up with a solution and hired another attorney to fix that since Carrier law couldn't figure out how to remedy the problem. 5. I highly doubt they would have been able to complete this in 7 months if we wouldn't have nagged them (lots of unreturned phone calls), demanded in person meetings to report on their progress and got belligerent (demanded we talk directly with David Carrier). 7 months into the whole mess they finally applied for Medicaid but my mother had passed by that time so it was a total waste of time. Carrier Law lead my father to believe that there was no urgency to the Medicaid application and told him to reduce the amount paid to the nursing home as if he was going to receive full benefits. He did this for the 7 months Carrier Law dinked around with his case. 7 months equaled a $60,000 past due invoice from the nursing home. In the end they claimed that they never told us Medicaid benefits were retroactive and there is only a small window for retroactive benefits. Well if that was the case I reiterate the need for them to act urgently. In other words, they knew if they would have started on the project in a timely manner they may have been able to deliver on their promises. If they would have done the work they were hired to do my mother would have received $60,000 in Medicaid benefits for the time she was in the nursing home, she received ZERO. NINETY ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR MISTAKE. Obviously Medicaid applications and property transfers aren't their area of expertise.

The workshops have been very helpful and informative. I am glad to have this portion of the estate planning in place. It is very much a relief. The staff at Carrier Law has been very helpful and friendly.

We worked with Bill Bereza at Carrier for the estate planning of both our family and my mother-in-law. Bill was thoughtful, attentive, and personable. He took care to provide advice customized to each of us, and he and the team at Carrier made the entire thing easy and seamless. We were supported every step of the way getting our trusts, wills, etc all set up. They went above and beyond for us as well. We asked Bill for suggestions related to my mother-in-law's residence, and he provided some extremely helpful, expert advice. My tax preparer called it "genius" and asked me for Bill's contact info so he knew who to recommend to his other clients. He told me (paraphrasing): "it's unusual to find someone so invested in their clients who thinks so creatively to solve their legal problems." Highly recommended for estate planning!

We met with Julie to review our wills and other elder law documents which were drafted 10 years ago by another firm. She listened to our specific requests while being very thorough in guiding us through recommended changes and updates. We want to feel confident and at ease in our golden years knowing that our affairs are in order and believe that the Law office of David Carrier will provide what we need. Their location on the E. Beltline is so much better than navigating to some downtown office and parking ramp.

Met with Brian Narlock attorney did some estate planning with him. He explained everything to us in common terms we could understand and pointed out different scenarios we hadn't thought about. He was kind very informative and gave us solid advice so we could make our decisions based on our estate planning needs. My husband andcI would highly recommend him.
