The Smith Law Office

I strongly recommend the smith law firm! There are many reasons why I would never go anywhere else for representation for family law. First off the secretaries (especially Brenda) are not only knowledgeable about the court proceedings and what to expect but also are wonderful people who should be counselors as well. I remember calling Brenda to schedule a consultation. I was in Kentucky devastated that I had to leave my kids in Kentucky and return to Michigan due to complications with my children's mother. Instead of scheduling and consultation she must have heard my voice and decided to have it right then instead of scheduling one. Brenda was on the phone with me for over an hour listening to everything I had to say (most of it irrelevant and meaningless to the case)Thats just something I’ll never forget and meant the world to me. I’m not sure if Brenda understands how many people she truly has helped and talked off the ledge but I’m grateful I am one of them! I retailed the smith law services late 2020 and just now has my case resolved. This was to no fault of the attorneys but the direct result of me not taking their advice. (I mention the time period of over a year and a half so you can understand the rapport Ive developed with this law firm.)I started off with Samantha as my attorney. Sam went to court with me one time. Unfortunately, court didn’t go our way but she fought hard and did all she could. There was miscommunication (on my end)between me and Sam resulting in Kira being assigned my new attorney. I am very happy and grateful for all with all the good work Kira did as my attorney. When I would go to court with Kira, I felt confident and calm. She never missed a beat and advocated for me vigorously! Kira also has had more than one phone call with me that lasted for over an hour. She has acted as my attorney, therapist/counselor and as a guide through the family court proceedings as a father in Wayne county fighting for custody. I was never surprised or shocked with anything because I was prepped so well by Brenda and Kira. I felt as though Kira and Brenda took my case personally as if they was going through it with me. They both also took calls from another one of my attorneys to ensure they received the best results possible for me and were aware of all the details of my case. In conclusion, My case was complicated, unorthodox and at times insane. Nevertheless, the smith law office never missed a beat. I strongly recommend them for simple and even more so complicated cases. In my opinion (I’ve set with many attorneys) they are not overly priced for their services and you get what you pay for. My children and I thank you!

I worked with Theresa at The Smith Law Offices through my divorce, and she was beyond wonderful. Even when I was cranky or crying, she stood beside me and got me a very equitable divorce. Thankful for their professionalism, caring and compassion for what they do.

If you experienced/still experience any form or magnitude of emotional, financial, or narcissistic abuse in your relationship with your ex, then I do NOT recommend this firm’s services. Especially if you are brand new to navigating the family court system. The small bit of credit I will give to the attorney who ran my case (to my knowledge there is 2 at this firm but I am not sure) is that the system in and of itself often emboldens, and quite frankly panders, to those that are offenders of such behaviors. Therefore I do see that it can be very difficult in general for anyone to navigate. It was extremely disheartening and disorienting to experience that this attorney, instead of helping a client to understand these nuances, taking the time to figure out the relevant details of the case, and offering outside resources when warranted, often just mirrored the court’s perspectives. I’m especially saddened to say that my child’s needs did not once get discussed throughout the entirety of the case, but again this may just be more of a testament to how the court interprets “child’s best interests” to really mean “a parent’s rights to do whatever they please with their child, whether it’s actually in the child’s best interests or not.”

I can't express enough how wonderful this law firm is. The compassion they had for me and my family was truly amazing. I highly recommend using this law firm.

Words cant express how grateful I am for Samantha and her entire team. Previously I was with another attorney who drug my divorce out for over a year. I hired Samantha in February of 2022, and less than 4 months later my divorce was finalized last week. She was quick, extremely thorough, transparent and fought extremely hard for me!
