William (Bill) Wickward, Jr. graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2006 with honors.  Bill began working for a firm in Raleigh representing Social Security disability claimants and Veteran's Affairs claimants.  He later worked at Merritt, Webb, Wilson and Caruso in Durham, NC where he continued to represent clients in these areas as well as other areas of law.  
 
Bill is a strong and passionate advocate for people with disabilities, particularly children.  Bill and his wife have a teenage son with disabilities and have experienced first hand the legal challenges associated with having a family member with disabilities.  His son, David, made it as a finalist on the TV show "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?".  
 
Bill has represented children with disabilties in a variety of settings, including Social Security disability claims, disputes with the NC Department of Health and Human Services for equipment needed to assist with daily activities, and the implementation of and accompanying parents to meetings with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in schools.  
 
Bill assisted Jimmy D. Sharpe when he formed North Carolina Sports for Special Kids.  Bill and his wife have volunteered with North Carolina Sports for Special Kids for over six years.
 
Bill represents clients for autmobile accidents. He has represented clients with traffic tickets and unemployment claims.  Bill has represented or consulted clients on various matters including family law, criminal, contract review and disputes, landlord-tenant disputes, worker's compensation, and other general civil matters.

If you have dealt with a Lawyer in the past then you will understand what I'm trying to convey. Bill is not your typical Lawyer, he makes time to talk with you and explain what is working and what needs to be done different. We were fighting a large insurance company who denied my disability claim with a ludicrous explanation. The insurance company decided what I could do without talking to me to find out what I did everyday and the insurance company had the wrong job description. Bill has many resources available due to his many years as a Lawyer. In my case Bill contacted an Occupation Therapist who interviewed me, got the correct job description and wrote a wonderful rebuttable to the insurance company's denial. With this resource in hand Bill was able to have my denial overturned with full back pay. I would not only recommend Bill highly but I would use him again without hesitation.
