William (Bill) Wickward, Jr. graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2006 with honors. Bill began working for a firm in Raleigh representing Social Security disability claimants and Veteran's Affairs claimants. He later worked at Merritt, Webb, Wilson and Caruso in Durham, NC where he continued to represent clients in these areas as well as other areas of law. Bill is a strong and passionate advocate for people with disabilities, particularly children. Bill and his wife have a teenage son with disabilities and have experienced first hand the legal challenges associated with having a family member with disabilities. His son, David, made it as a finalist on the TV show "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?". Bill has represented children with disabilties in a variety of settings, including Social Security disability claims, disputes with the NC Department of Health and Human Services for equipment needed to assist with daily activities, and the implementation of and accompanying parents to meetings with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in schools. Bill assisted Jimmy D. Sharpe when he formed North Carolina Sports for Special Kids. Bill and his wife have volunteered with North Carolina Sports for Special Kids for over six years.
