About Francis
Francis Patrick Murphy joined Corboy & Demetrio in 1983 and became apartner in 1992. He regularly handles complex personal injury and wrongful deathcases involving aviation disasters, product liability actions, premisesliability including porch collapses and claims resulting from railroad,automobile, and other vehicular accidents. He has more than twenty-five $1million settlements and verdicts. Major newspapers have reported his recordsettlements and verdicts and his verdict in a high-profile railroad case waschronicled on "Good Morning America," ABC's national morning newsshow. He was also highlighted on "Inside Edition" for his handling ofone of the death cases which occurred in the Chicago porch collapse tragedy ofJune 29, 2003. He recently received a $7.5 million settlement on behalf ofGladys Elliot, a nationally renowned oboist from the Chicago Lyric Opera andGrant Park Symphony, whose musical career was ended when she was struck by aChicago Transit Authority bus while crossing a Chicago street.
Mr. Murphy is a frequent lecturer for various bar associations and is anadjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he hastaught since 1987. He has authored numerous legal articles.
Mr. Murphy began his career as an Assistant Public Defender with the CookCounty Public Defender's Office. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked for A.B.Dick Co. in marketing and sales.
