About Frank
LeidmanLaw was founded by Frank Z. Leidman in 1986 as a criminal defense practice in the San Francisco Bay Area in Federal and California State courts. Mr. Leidman received the highly sought "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell at the beginning of his legal career and has maintained that rating for legal knowledge and ethical standards for over 25 years. The rating signifies that Frank Leidman's peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence for legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards. Mr. Leidman has also served as an officer and board member, and is the immediate past president, of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association of Northern California. Mr. Leidman has served by appointment by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel to defend individuals charged with Federal crimes in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has also served on the indigent panel administered by the Bar Association and has accepted appointments from the San Francisco Superior Court to represent individuals charged with both felonies and misdemeanors in alleged violation of California law. Prior to founding LeidmanLaw, Mr. Leidman was associated from 1981 to 1986 with Sideman & Bancroft, a small criminal defense firm. Before that, he began his legal career in San Francisco with the general litigation firm of Bronson, Bronson & McKinnon. Before establishing his California legal career, Mr. Leidman received his legal education at the New York University School of Law, and, before moving to San Francisco from New York City received a New York City Urban Fellowship and served as an assistant to the NYC Deputy Mayor for Criminal Justice Nicholas Scoppetta, who also was the NYC Commission of Investigation. Before embarking on a career in the law, he obtained his undergraduate degree in philosophy at Haverford College in Pennsylvania and also studied philosophy at the University of London.
