About Gaetano

Gaetano Piccirilli is an associate in the Litigation Department whose practice focuses on the construction industry, mainly construction claims litigation and construction defect litigation. Mr. Piccirilli has extensive knowledge of the construction claims process, particularly in litigation surrounding government contracts and bidding, as well as mechanic's lien claims and claims under Pennsylvania's Contractor Subcontractor Payment Act.

Representative matters include:

  • Prosecuting mechanic's lien claims on behalf of general contractors and subcontractors against residential, commercial and retail property owners;
  • Handling bid protests against public entities, including the School District of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia;
  • Representing contractors and builders/developers in construction defect matters;
  • Representing prime contractors in delay and inefficiency claims against the Department of General Services and before the Pennsylvania Board of Claims;
  • Representing contractors against personal injury claims brought by injured persons.

Mr. Piccirilli is a member of the Pennsylvania Utility Contractors Association and serves as a committee member charged with drafting alternative dispute resolution procedures related to the Pennsylvania One Call System.  The aim of the committee is to provide a forum to resolve disputes between utility contractors and utility companies. 

Appointed by Governor Rendell in 2008, Mr. Piccirilli serves as a member of the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission - the body responsible for the regulation of real estate professionals in Pennsylvania.

In 2001, Mr. Piccirilli received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Temple University, where he completed internships with the Philadelphia Regional Planning Commission and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. In addition, he served as an Ombudsman for the College of Liberal Arts and studied at Temple University Rome. Upon graduation, Mr. Piccirilli was both a President's and Dean's Scholar and was awarded the Henry Michael Prize and the Delaware Valley Geographical Association Prize for excellence in the field.

Mr. Piccirilli received his J.D. in 2004 from Temple University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Temple Law Review and a member of the Student Public Interest Network Executive Steering Committee. During law school, Mr. Piccirilli served as a clerk in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. In addition, Mr. Piccirilli was a teaching assistant for the law school's innovative Integrated Transaction Practice Program.
