About Gary
I am a graduate of the University of Denver College of Law (J.D., 1978), licensed to practice in Colorado since 1978. I am also admitted to practice in California (1987) and the District of Columbia (1983).
I have practiced law since 1978, working mainly in-house for corporations and concentrating on litigation and administrative law. From 1983 through 2004 I worked for AT&T, where I was responsible for regulatory matters, and for commercial and employment litigation. From January through May, 2005, I was an Assistant Attorney General representing the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC). From June, 2005, through August, 2008, I was the executive vice president of the Colorado Telecommunications Association, where I represented Colorado's rural telephone companies in rulemakings and adversarial matters before the Colorado PUC.
I have been with Elwyn F. Schaefer & Associates since December, 2008. In my current position I devote approximately 80 percent of my time to the representation of employees in employment law disputes.
I have 25 years' experience litigating matters in court and before administrative agencies. In Colorado I have appeared before the state and federal district courts. I have also appeared before public utilities commissions in 15 states. My experience includes not only employment law, but also commercial litigation, regulatory compliance, condemnation, and real estate.
