Notable Work
Aneita Henry vs. Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
Our client, Ms. Henry, a registered nurse employed by DLLR for over 15 years, alleges discrimination, retaliation and other claims against the director of nursing and other nursing supervisor at state hospital where she worked. The allegations arise out of numerous disciplinary actions taken against our client, including suspensions and unequal treatment of our client in comparison to her counterparts. After a long trial, the court issue judgment in favor our client and awarded her substantial damages and attorney fees. The link here shows the appeal that was filed by DLLR against the circuit court decision, which we challenged, and which DLLR lost as well.
Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
In the last year or two years my representation of clients in several cases have made a big difference that has had positive impacts on my clients. The most recent case involved claims of harassment, discrimination and retaliation against a major food chain. The case was weak factually, with several legal pitfalls. However, by developing a focused litigation strategy and getting the client\'s buy-in, the strength of the facts was developed around one of the claims, which also avoided the legal pitfalls. This dramatically increased the viability and value of the case and led to an early fair settlement of the case to the expressed satisfaction of our client.
How did you build a successful practice?
I first set out to be consciously genuine as a person and a professional in my approach and interactions with prospective clients, clients, my peers, the courts, vendors, etc., With this approach, I applied my love and value of high quality and standards in approach to my work product as an attorney and typically obtain satisfactory outcomes for my clients. This leads to regular referrals from past and existing clients, as well as attorneys on the other side that I worked with.
