About Gordon
Gordon Petrie, a recently retired judge with twenty years of bench experience and thirty-three years of legal experience in the state of Idaho, has joined the law firm of Gulstrom & Henson, PC.
Admitted to the bar in September 1976, Gordon began his career as the elected Prosecuting Attorney of Nez Perce County (Lewiston) in January 1977, serving three terms. In 1983, Gordon entered private practice in Lewiston, and before leaving the practice of law for the bench, participate in a partnership in Lewiston known as Keeton, Tait and Petrie. In 1989, Gordon became the Magistrate of Gem County (Emmett) where he served until June 2006 (missing 18 months from June 2004 through November 2005 to train for and deploy to Iraq, where he served with the 116th Brigade Combat Team during Operation Iraqi Freedom III). In June 2006, then-Governor James Risch appointed Gordon to the District Bench in Canyon County where he served until January 2009, electing to leave public office and return to his roots as a trial attorney.
In one-third of a century of practicing or administering the law, Gordon has handled or presided over literally tens of thousands of cases, from simple traffic offenses to complex criminal and civil litigation. Currently he emphasizes criminal defense, family law, and negligence actions; however, his vast court-room experience allows him to discuss many other types of actions with potential clients. As a retired Colonel in the Idaho Army Nation Guard, Gordon has a special appreciation for military personnel and their families. As a result, those individuals currently on active duty or who participate as active members of the reserve forces, or those who have retired with twenty or more years in the military with honorable discharges receive discounts for serves rendered.
