introduction
I attended the University of Scranton where I served as President of the Pre-Law Society and later attended the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C. While in law school I worked in the legal department of the U.S. Railway Association during the Con-Ed Bankruptcy proceedings and later at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. I also interned at the Columbus School of Law Legal Services Office on N. Capital Street and provided help to indigent citizens who could not afford a lawyer. I returned to Northeast Pennsylvania and clerked for the Hon. Daniel L. Penetar in the Orphans Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County. Soon after I founded the Law Firm of Gregory A. Germain and I have practiced law in the concentrated areas of personal injury and estates.
In regard to my practice in personal injury, I have had the esteemed pleasure to represent countless individuals and families throughout Pennsylvania and to assist them through the legal process in order to obtain justice and compensation for their loss. I have successfully represented mothers, fathers, and children who have either been seriously injured or whose family member was killed or injured due to the negligence of a driver, a product manufacturer, a property owner or a medical provider. I have also litigated numerous claims for workers compensation and I am proud to state that I have assisted many hardworking truckers, warehouse employees, forklift operators, nurses, dietary workers and others who have injured their bodies on the job to recover medical and indemnity benefits from their employers’ insurance companies.
In my estate practice I use my expertise to help families, business owners, and professionals to plan their estates and to preserve their home and assets for themselves and for their next generation. I assist clients from all walks of life including the poor, the moderately wealthy and the very rich. I prepare Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorneys, Shareholder Agreements, Agreements of Sale, Deeds, Mortgages and other documents which are designed to meet the specific needs of my clients. I am particularly proficient in helping the elderly and their families to evaluate their personal and financial situations and to take the necessary steps to protect their person and their estate. Few lawyers today are regularly involved with Medicaid Planning and I am proud to have helped many aging couples and individuals to plan ahead to protect their hard earned income and assets from Medicaid liens and creditors.

- Below is a list of common types of injuries associated with personal injury lawsuits. You may be entitled to compensation for the following personal injuries:
• Bruises and cuts are the most common injury and range in severity. Bruises are usually minor but complications can occur if the victim has a blood disorder or if the trauma is to an organ. Cuts range in seriousness depending on the length and depth of the laceration. Severe cuts may require stitches and may even result in scarring.
• Burns can result from high heat or chemicals. Minor burns can usually be treated at home while more serious burns may require skin grafts and surgery. Suffering a serious burn can also increase the risk of infection.
• Fractures and broken bones generally take between to 6 to 8 weeks to heal and severe cases may take even longer. Bone injuries are challenging because they can prevent an individual from working while the bone sets.
• Back and neck injuries should be addressed immediately because injuries in these areas can result in disability. The back and neck are made up of discs that are called vertebra and these discs protect the spinal cord. After a car, motorcycle, or truck accident, the whiplash from the crash can result in disc fractures or herniated discs resulting in long-term pain that requires long-term treatment.
• Concussions and traumatic brain injury occur when a sudden impact causes trauma to the brain. The most common signs of brain trauma are headache, confusion, nausea, and loss of consciousness. This type of injury can occur due to the impact of a car crash or a slip and fall.
• Scarring can occur due to cuts suffered in a car accident or incisions performed during surgery. In negligence cases, compensation for scarring is included as part of the pain and suffering award. In workers’ compensation cases, recovery for a scar depends its location and size.
• Amputations and loss of limbs are devastating injuries that not only affect a person’s quality of life but also result in disability. Whether the loss of a limb is the result of a car crash, construction accident, or medical malpractice, it is important to obtain compensation for past losses as well as future losses such as physical therapy and lost earning capacity.
• Wrongful death lawsuits can be filed on behalf of the parents, children, and spouse of the deceased. Following the death of a loved one, it may be difficult to think about protecting your legal rights but it is important to talk to an attorney as soon as possible. An experienced attorney will handle your legal issues, giving you time to focus on grieving.
