Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Criminal; Capital Homicide case. I have represented clients in 3 Death Penalty cases. One was acquitted, while the other two had their lives spared and avoided execution. Accident cases, I represented a 9 year old girl that was attaché by a dog and sustained facial scaring. IU was able to settle the mater for the insurance policy limits of $100,000.00.
How did you build a successful practice?
A successful practice is, in my opinion built of reputation. A law practice is a service oriented profession. To properly and efficiently engage in such a practice, it is important for the practitioner to understand the needs and expectations of the client. Critical to an effective practice is providing quality representation, responding promptly to client calls and requests, exhibiting courtesy and patience while providing service in a cost efficient, professional and ethical manner.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
When selecting a lawyer, a client should consider the willingness of the attorney to spend the time necessary to engage the client in a meaningful manner. When the client leaves the consultation they should have an understanding of what brought them there to begin with and not walk away with unanswered questions. The client also need to know that the lawyer works for them and not the other way around. What information do you need in a free phone consultation? On the first phone call to my office, the client can expect me to listen to their question and provided them with a basic understanding of the issue concerning their call. During the phone consult with a criminal caller I ask them to provide me with the location of the alleged offense, municipal police department involved, alleged crimes, bail information is already set and next court date. My clients are asked about the location of the accident, any traffic citations, Motor vehicle accident report, what medical treatment received to date and automobile insurance information, including Full or Limited Tort option. I will then make myself available for a free consult but will not waste their time on needless in-house consults.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I am a veteran of the United States Army. I received a commission as a First Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General`s Corp. I was promoted to Captain and served with distinction, receiving the Army Achievement Medal and Army Commendation Medal. I was also awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon and Certificate of Appreciation for Faithful and Exemplary performance of duty during Operation Desert Storm.
