About Gregory

Gregory W Marcum is an experienced litigator. His practice focuses on civil litigation and intellectual property. He is a registered patent attorney and is licensed to practice in all the State and Federal Courts of Texas in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Galveston, Kaufmann, Beaumont, Orange, Edinburg, Brownsville, and San Antonio.

Greg was first named to Houston’s Best Lawyers in 2017. He was also included on the prestigious Texas Super Lawyers list since 2014. Attorneys are selected to the Super Lawyers listings by Thomson Reuters based on peer recognition and professional achievement.

He is a member of the Houston and Dallas Bar Associations and participates in the litigation and intellectual property sections. Since 2003, he has served as an ad litem attorney for the Harris County Tax Court.

Born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Northeast Texas, Greg began working at age 14. No stranger to manual labor, he developed habits of persistence, efficiency, and determination by working jobs at a rural dairy farm, as a student custodian at his high school, a lifeguard, and later as summer labor at a tire manufacturing plant in Texarkana, Texas.

Greg went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985. He worked in Texas and Saudi Arabia as a mechanical engineer from 1986 – 1994. He earned his professional engineer’s license in 1993, and he earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Houston Law School in 1997. Since then he has worked in law firm and corporate settings mainly handling civil litigation matters. He established a law office in Houston in 2012 and expanded to Dallas in 2017. The firm assumed name is Marcum PC since 2017.

When not practicing law Greg enjoys traveling with his family and managing his family’s tree farm in Bowie County, Texas. Greg is married to Angela Marcum since 1995. They have two adult children, Carter and Mikayla.
