About H. Carter
Mr. Hood joined the firm in 2002 and is now a partner in the firm's Trust and Estates Group. He provides tax advice and guidance to corporate and individual clients, both foreign and domestic, concentrating on estate planning. He has prepared wills, financial and medical powers of attorney, a variety of trusts such as revocable, qualified personal residence, life insurance, and generation-skipping dynasty trusts. Mr. Hood has established a family LLC and implemented its sale to grantor trusts, administered estates in DC, MD, and VA, established private foundations, advised clients on pre and post-nuptial agreements, provided post-mortem tax planning, and represented taxpayers before the IRS in audits and appeals. Mr. Hood also teaches a course on the Federal Income Taxation of Trusts and Estates with the Georgetown University Law Center's Graduate Tax Program.
Mr. Hood received his A.B. from Harvard College in 1991, magna cum laude, his M.T. from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management in 1995, summa cum laude, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1998, cum laude. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, Virginia State Bar, and American Bar Association (Tax Section).
