I grew up actively involved in farming, ranching, and agri-business, because that’s what you do when you grow up in the country. Subsequently, I played inter-collegiate golf in college and graduated from the university of Arizona with a degree in Finance. While traveling and playing inter-collegiate golf, I ended up visiting states all over the Southwest. After graduating, I returned to my home in Floydada, Texas to learn more about the family’s farming, ranching and agri-business as the only son.

I had been thinking about going to law school before graduating from the University of Arizona. The idea came up as I played golf with several attorneys in Tucson (never knew one before) at the University of Arizona. With the encouragement of my father, I attended law school.

I went to law school to become an estate tax lawyer. After graduating from law school and finding no work in the tax areas, I was fortunate enough to work in the areas of commercial law. The work involved all types of financing, sale of products, whether it be cotton, cattle, mobile homes, cars, caterpillars or tractors, as well as defending commercial clients being sued by consumers trying to take advantage of my clients. Along with this came representing people in all types of agricultural and commercial areas, ag-lending, inventory financing and many other types of commercial lending. This led to work in most aspects of the Uniform Commercial Code, lending and leasing. I have found knowing a client’s business enhances my ability to represent them.

Another significant part of my work has been in agriculture, cattle, cotton and other agri-business.  I also have been involved significantly in the manufactured housing industry representing manufacturers and dealers.  Below I have included all the normal things expected in a personal resume speaking in terms of lawyer speak not plain English.
