About Joseph

MR. HAMMER received his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University where he graduated cum laude in 1977.  He attended the University of Puget Sound School of Law, (now Seattle University School of Law) graduating in 1983 and was admitted to practice in Washington that same year.

He spent eight years as a trust officer and manager with two major banks.  After leaving the banking industry, Mr. Hammer practiced law with the firm of Foster Pepper & Shefelman (now Foster Pepper, PLLC) before opening his own practice in 1993.

Mr. Hammer has been an instructor in commercial and trust law for the American Institute of Banking. He taught business and corporate law as an instructor in the business and corporate law certificate program in paralegal studies at the University of Washington .

He has been a seminar speaker throughout the state on banking topics including deposit accounts and basic banking law for banking operations personnel.  He is the author of articles on banking, estate and business planning.  He served as a faculty member for one of the Washington State Bar Association's Real Property, Probate and Trust Section mid-year meetings.

Mr. Hammer's primary areas of practice include estate planning, probate, guardianships, business planning, general business representation, landlord-tenant and real estate matters.  He and his family reside in Redmond, Washington .  Mr. Hammer is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Redmond Chamber of Commerce and is an adjunct faculty member at City University .
