About Herbert

Herbert M. Schaltegger was born in New Milford, Connecticut on July 13, 1968. Mr. Schaltegger attended the University of Tennessee (B.S., 1990) for his undergraduate degree and Vanderbilt University (J.D., 1996) for his graduate legal degree. He was admitted to Tennessee bar in 1996; in 1997 was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee; in 1998 was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Tennessee; in 1999 was admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit and in 2002 was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Schaltegger is a member of Phi Alpha Delta and author of "Taking a Bite Out of Crime," Vanderbilt Criminal Law Update Vol. 2 Issue 1 Page 99. Mr. Schaltegger is a member of the Rutherford County and Tennessee Bar Associations and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Schaltegger resides in Murfreesboro with his wife Amy and three school-aged children. His interests outside of the law include coaching youth soccer, amateur astronomy, and gardening with his wife. Mr. Schaltegger and his wife keep fresh-water fish, raise their children, cats, and Labrador retriever in some semblance of harmony, and enjoy spending as much time together as their busy family and work life allows.
