Questions & Answers

How did you build a successful practice?

Putting in the time and effort is the only way to build and sustain a practice. It takes a long time to see the varying issues that cam arise in the practice. There is no substitute for experience. I built a successful practice by taking care of clients in such a way that they feel you care and they are willing to tell other people to use you.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

You need an attorney that has been focused on the area of the law you need handled. It is very difficult to be good at everything. If you have a specialized need, such as medical malpractice, you need someone who does it all day everyday, not just occasionally. You also need to find someone who will talk to you and listen. You must feel comfortable with your attorney and that he or she cares and understands what you are going through.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It is vital. I understand the judges and their staff and what they like an do not like. If you know the norms of your local courts you do not have to worry about learning a system You can just focus on the case. It is also important to know the community of potential jurors. This allows you to shape and present the case to be best understood and appreciated by the people who will eventually decide your case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I can give my first impression of the case as well as what the likely process of evaluation will be. I can answer questions about what to expect and how the fee structure works. I can also give the potential client information about myself and my experience.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Basic contact information and just a brief overview of the issues and parties involved.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I have served in the Georgia State Legislature and made laws. I serve as a local judge in municipal courts. I also am one of the few local attorneys who focuses on medical malpractice. I am licensed to practice in Tennessee and Georgia.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping a client get closure on a problem, be it injury of loss of a loved one. Money does not fix the injured, but it does help you get a sense of justice and takes off a bit of the financial burden as well to move forward.
