James Kilpatrick Mcgee | Attorney

James K. McGee is an experienced, well-rounded attorney, whose knowledge and practical approach to the law benefits his clients. Mr. McGee has substantial experience representing clients before the Maryland Public Service Commission on a wide rage of matters, and has been named a Rising Star by SuperLawyers Magazine in Utility Law for almost a decade. Mr. McGee has been engaged to represent a multitude of clients in most major PSC proceedings on energy, telecommunications, electricity, gas, compliance, and regulatory issues. Mr. McGee represents power plant owners (renewable and fossil fuel), HVAC contractors, retail/wholesale suppliers, and multiple counties, among others. Mr. McGee has represented several clients in CPCN cases, rate cases, mergers, EmPOWER Maryland, and many more.
In addition to his energy and utility practice, Mr. McGee represents individuals and businesses in a wide variety of transactional and civil litigation issues. He represents both landlords and tenants with lease preparation, evictions, and collection of back rent or the return of security deposits. He represents both Plaintiffs and Defendants, seeking to obtain a money judgment and collect on that judgment through wage garnishments or other means, or defends against such actions. He prepares contracts and other business organizational documents. Finally, Mr. McGee maintains a large domestic practice, representing families in divorce, child custody, and support and related matters.

Mr. McGee practices law in state and federal courts in Maryland and Washington, D.C., both in courts of original jurisdiction and appellate courts. He is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, an avid sports fan, including his beloved Terps, and lives in Edgewater with his wife and three daughters.
