About Jamy
A first-generation Haitian American, he has dedicated his life to the practice of law. He graduated with high honors from St. Lucie West Centennial High School in 2009 where he had the privilege of being part of the school’s Criminal Justice Academy, serving as an advocate for the 19th Judicial Circuit’s Teen Court program.
After graduation from Centennial, Jamy earned his B.S. in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida, earning his degree on a full-time basis while working full time at Universal Studios Orlando. After college, Jamy attended Barry University School of Law where he served on the editorial board of its Law Review Journal as a Research and Technical Editor. In 2017, he graduated from Barry Law and returned to the Treasure Coast, gaining experience in estate planning, trust administration, probate administration, business planning, residential mortgage foreclosures, and evictions. Understanding the impact generational wealth has on society and setting the stage for success in generations to come, Jamy made it his mission to guide those in his community in such matters. In 2021, he graduated with his LL.M. in taxation with a concentration in estate planning from Boston University School of Law to further his mission.
In his free time, he is an adjunct professor of business law at Southern New Hampshire University and continues to expand his knowledge of how to best serve his community.
Barreau Legal, PLLC is excited to offer flat fee legal representation.

Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
It is hard to pinpoint just one instance because I have been blessed to be able to help several families achieve their estate planning and probate goals. The biggest difference I make across all of my clients is ensuring that generational wealth is guided into the appropriate hands after someone has passed away.
How did you build a successful practice?
I built a successful practice by making sure to remain knowledgeable on topics relevant to my clients and my living by a strict code to approach my clients with professionalism and integrity at all times.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a knowledgeable and qualified attorney who has a track record of integrity and customer service. While attorneys go through a lot of education and credentialing to be able to serve a client, not all attorneys have the same expertise where it comes to the practice of law. It is a good idea to engage an attorney who is experienced in the particular area of law you need.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is increasingly important when dealing with probate and estate planning matters. For instance, being familiar with the local probate judge's procedures can enhance the efficiency of your probate matter. Furthermore, knowing the local rules as it pertains to, for example, transferring homestead property to a Revocable Living Trust is equally as important.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
During a free phone consultation, we will be able to gather the facts of your situation and provide an initial overview and plan to get started on your matter as well as provide a quote for fees. By the end of the initial phone consultation, you should know whether our firm is the right fit for you to move forward.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
During your initial free, phone consultation, we will need a series of basic facts concerning your matter, such as the assets involved and your overall goal for hiring an attorney.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
What differentiates me from other lawyers in my community is that I am a Port St. Lucie native with an advanced law degree in Taxation with an emphasis in estate planning. My roots are in the community, so I am even more invested in seeing my clients thrive.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is having the honor of giving peace of mind to my clients. To witness the relief my clients have when their estate plan is completed or their probate matter has closed has been life changing.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Besides the law, I have an interest in scholarship. Namely, I teach at the undergraduate level on the side and really brings a feeling of fulfillment being able to pass on knowledge to others.
Are you involved in your community?
I am involved in various organizations in the community and only hope to grow in those roles in the future.
