About Jay
Jay was born and raised in South Florida– a true native Floridian. Jay grew up in a working class household. His father was an accountant for a non-profit. His mother was a homemaker. Both stressed the importance of hard work, education and integrity. Jay’s parents focused on their family. They made it a requirement that all would sit at the dinner table each night and share what each had learned that day.
Although they had little money, Jay’s parents always found a way to support Jay in his educational endeavors. This included Jay attending Georgetown University for two summers while still in high school, studying communication, debate and argumentation. Jay worked as a bus boy and washed dishes to save for college.
Like the Firm’s cofounder and best friend, Steve Katzman, Jay understands the importance of loyalty and commitment. Jay has been happily married to his wife, Debbie for 25 years, and has three daughters.
Jay treats his staff as family. He stresses the need for them to take time to attend the many school events that their respective children may have. Many of the staff have young children and Jay encourages them not to miss a school play or event. Family is very important to Jay and the Firm.
Prior to founding the Firm with Steve Katzman, Jay worked for the prestigious firm of Weil Gotshal & Manges, a national law firm. Jay formed his own law firm more than 20 years ago, specializing in Personal Injury and Wrongful Death.
