About Jayne
Jayne was born in Waukegan, Illinois, but moved with her family to Texas, where she lived through her high school years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, continuing on into a PhD. program in social psychology.
While in college Jayne worked as a clerk in a law firm, an experience, which persuaded her to discontinue her Ph.D. program and move into the School of Law at SMU in Dallas. Graduating in 1989, Jayne became a member of the Bar in both Texas and California. She worked for several years for a national law firm, which specialized in insurance coverage defense and business litigation.
A blind date arranged by friends resulted in a major life change for Jayne — she met Paul, a visitor to the States and an Englishman who was born and raised in Zimbabwe. Two years later and after two trips to Zimbabwe, Jayne and Paul were married and set up their household in Marondera, Zimbabwe, where Paul was active as a much sought-after safari guide. Twelve years and three beautiful daughters later, Jayne and Paul left a dangerous political situation in Zimbabwe and returned to the United States, settling in Southwest Florida, where Paul was offered a job on Useppa Island.
Jayne joined Thompson Family Law in March 2005, and has become a member of the Florida Bar and a Certified Family Mediator.
