About Jeffrey

From president of his high school student body and chancellor of his college fraternity to president of his own oil company before the age of 30, Jeff Dorrell has earned the recognition of his peers in every major endeavor of his life.  Before practicing law, Jeff had a successful career in the oil business, holding executive postitions in three different Fortune 100 companies and serving simultaneously as president of the Southwest Chemical Association and a member of the board of directors of the National Petroleum Refiners' Association--the youngest in each organization's history.

As much at home in the boardroom as in the courtroom, Jeff has been bringing his strong business background to bear in both trials and appeals of complex commercial cases for 16 years.  A master of arcane rules of procedure, a talented writer, and a gifted speaker, Jeff's skills have brought him to courtrooms in Texas, Louisiana, New York, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the U.S. Supreme Court.  Jeff's more unusual cases have been featured in USA Today, The New York Times, The Houston Chronicle, The Austin American Statesman, and other newspapers, trade journals, and magazines in both the U.S. and foreign countries.  Jeff is also a frequent speaker and guest lecturer in law schools and college government classes.  In 2004, Jeff was named by H Texas Magazine one of Houston's "Lawyers on the Fast Track."  In 2009, Jeff was recognized by The Texas Lawyer as being one of the lawyers who had the greatest impact on the law of Texas in 2008.
