About Jennifer
Jennifer Schwartz has over twenty years of experience as a trial attorney. She is a 1988 graduate of New York University School of Law, having also attended Stanford Law School. She received her B.A. from Yale University.
Ms. Schwartz specializes in two areas: employment law and criminal law. She has extensive litigation experience in both state and federal court and also has significant appellate experience. She is a practiced trial attorney, having gone to a verdict in over 25 trials.
After graduating from law school in 1988, Ms. Schwartz worked for the firm of Farella, Braun & Martel in San Francisco, handling white collar defense matters, civil rights cases, employment related matters and other commercial litigation matters. After a stint as a Deputy District Attorney in Alameda county and then as Assistant Attorney General for the then-U.S. Trust Territory of Palau in Micronesia, Ms. Schwartz undertook special counsel and contractual work at several prestigious San Francisco firms including Farella, Braun & Martel, Sideman & Bancroft and Topel & Goodman. During her tenure at these firms, she managed a wide range of criminal and civil litigation including wrongful termination, employment discrimination, non-competition claims, securities fraud, immigration fraud, embezzlement, trade secret theft, federal maritime violations, civil rights violations, various other state and federal felony violations and a variety of civil and criminal appeals.
In addition to private clients, Ms. Schwartz represents numerous indigent clients by court appointment. She has served on the criminal trial panel for the Northern District of the state of California, the First District Appellate Panel and the Marin County Alternate Defenders Panel.
One of Ms. Schwartz's most recent successes was winning an acquittal -- along with co-counsel Gary K. Dubcoff -- in a six month long trial where their client was charged with first degree murder, among numerous other criminal charges.
Ms. Schwartz's specialization in criminal and employment law emanates from a passion for helping individuals facing difficult life circumstances. She prides herself on a uniquely client-centered approach that values the client's emotional and psychological well-being over financial remuneration.
