About Joe
Celebrating his 50th year practicing law, Joe Reynolds is a highly respected trial lawyer. He was selected in 2001 as one of the five outstanding Texas lawyers who had practiced 50 years or more. In 2001, he was selected as the outstanding alumnus of Waco High School. He often serves various courts as a receiver and master. Joe joined the firm in January 1997.
Joe graduated as the top student in his Baylor University law school class in 1947. While in law school, he volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps and served in WW II and the Korean War, seeing combat at both Iwo Jima and the Chosin Reservoir. Joe served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas from 1947-1949. From 1957-1960, he served as Special Assistant to the Attorney General, specializing in antitrust litigation. Joe was a partner in the firm of Bracewell, Reynolds & Patterson from 1949-1966; a partner in Reynolds, Allen & Cook from 1966-1993; and Of Counsel to Andrews & Kurth, L.L.P. from 1993-1996.
Joe's professional and civic accomplishments are innumerable. He proudly served on the Board of Regents of Texas A&M University for 16 years, having been appointed to the position by three different governors. A building at Texas A&M is named in Joe's honor. Additionally, Joe organized the Board of Visitors of Texas Southern University School of law and served on its Board for 10 years. He is also a trustee of Houston Baptist University and a chair has been named in his honor at the University of Texas.
