About John

John Fielding has been an attorney for 16 years, most of which has been spent in civil and criminal litigation.  This is a second career for John.  He spent a number of years managing in both contract security and pest control services before attending law school.  Graduating from Temple University's Beasley School of Law was the achievement of  his high school ambition.  He has represented clients at the federal level in both the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, and, at the state level, in the Courts of Common Pleas in Berks County as well as others, and, during appeals, before both the Superior and Commonwealth Courts.  His main areas of practice have been family and criminal law, but he has handled litigation regarding contractual, personal injury, and real estate issues as well.  In addition to his years of experience, John has also been certified by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as competent to defend death penalty cases in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

John thinks that the term attorney at law is often combined with the term counselor at law because he believes that an attorney should be a person that clients can trust to give the kind of advice one would get from a trusted family counselor and friend.  He cannot always guarantee that the advice will be what his client will want to hear at the time.  He can guarantee his clients the kind of effort necessary to produce the very best advice and legal strategy that can be given at that particular time and circumstance.  John does his best to make himself available to clients at all times and tries to be responsive to their needs no matter when those needs arise.  Finally, winning cases in front of juries and judges requires personal preparation.  There is no substitute for it.  Too many unforeseen issues arise at trial without an attorney adding to them through a lack of personal preparation.  John will always come to court adequately prepared to the best of his ability to give his client the best possible representation.

Although originally from New Jersey, John has lived in the Reading area for 14 years with his wife and two children.  When not in court, he teaches writing and speaking at Reading Area Community College, serves on a local school board and the county housing authority board, serves as chairman of the board of his local little league baseball league, and is a member of the Antietam Valley Lions Club.  It's also not unusual to bump into him in some of the businesses in and around downtown Reading.
