About John
John A. Kaniewski is a distinguished trial attorney. Many of his more than 20 jury trials have been high exposure catastrophic injury matters against some of the top trial lawyers in the country in cases involving products liability, premises liability, and public entity liability. He also has substantial experience in matters involving invasion of privacy, construction defects, insurance coverage, real estate, and business disputes. In addition to his accomplishments in the courtroom, Mr. Kaniewski is also a skilled negotiator who has volunteered his time to handle mandatory settlement conferences in the Superior Courts in addition to serving as a private mediator.
Mr. Kaniewski was born in Inglewood, California and attended St. Anthony High School in Long Beach where he was student body president during his senior year. He graduated magna cum laude from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor's degree in political science. While at LMU, he was selected to membership in Pi Gamma Mu (the National Social Science Honor Society) and Alpha Sigma Nu (the National Jesuit Honor Society). Mr. Kaniewski then obtained his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
During his 25 year legal career, Mr. Kaniewski has been in private practice and worked for several years as a senior trial attorney for CNA Insurance. He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Mr. Kaniewski has lectured to several groups on issues such as trial preparation, the Judicial Council Jury Instructions, and dealing with the media. He has also completed advanced training through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
In his spare time, Mr. Kaniewski enjoys spending time and traveling with his family, golf, and is highly involved in his local parish in a number of ways.
