About John
John, a native of Long Island, is a co-founding partner of the Firm. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from Fordham University, where he was awarded the U.S. Law Weekly Award in 1984. He was admitted to practice in New York in July 1985. He is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. John's early years of practice were spent with the firm of Kennedy & Casey (in Garden City, New York), where he concentrated in labor law and commercial litigation. At that firm, he handled litigation, in both federal and state court, involving jurisdictional disputes, unfair labor practices, Title VII and discrimination claims, strikes and picketing, claims for breach of collective bargaining agreements, claims by disgruntled union members, audit and fringe benefits claims and other labor and construction claims. John joined the firm of Westermann & Tryon in 1989, and became a partner in 1995. In 1998, John co-founded Westermann Hamilton & Sheehy. His practice has continued in the areas of commercial litigation, construction, suretyship and labor law. John has conducted hearings, bankruptcy proceedings and arbitrations concerning breach of contract, indemnification, ERISA and RICO violations, unfair labor practices, employment discrimination and other surety, construction and labor issues. Contributor, New York Construction Law: What Do You Do When...?, National Business Institute, 1996. Author, New York Construction Law: What Do You Do When...?, National Business Institute, 2004. Speaker, National Business Institute Seminar, 2004.
