About John

We strive to be a responsive, friendly and helpful firm that follows through. We value the relationship and client piece of mind. This is the founding principle of John R. Windsor Jr., who after obtaining his law degree from Tulane University, and Masters in Tax law from Boston University and working for a non-profit, the home office of a life insurance company and a number of years of Bank Trust Departments, entered private practice and felt that most clients were not satisfied with the responsiveness of their legal counsel.

Since entering private practice John has always tried to make sure the client had a sense of comfort about the issues the client was confronting. At the Windsor Law Firm, PLC, we help our clients form businesses, transact business, plan the succession or exit of owners and managers the transition to family, key-employees, or sale to outsiders, draft employment agreements, non-compete or other employment agreements, non-qualified deferred compensation agreements, retirement plan analysis, stay bonus plans, coordinating these plans and business structures with the estate plans and tax effectiveness of the implemented plans, and then probate of the estate to provide a "family office" atmosphere for the small business owner, retirees, and families. We strive to always remain mindful of the overall cost and effectiveness of the plans discussed and implemented in light of the cost to implement, the tax consequences, and other "transfer" costs of any planning.

We create estate plans that strive to achieve the client's goal of passing property to their beneficiaries in the most efficient way possible including probate cost management, tax efficiency and overall transactional cost. We advise clients on all aspects of estate planning. We draft wills, revocable trusts, insurance trusts, powers of attorney, and living wills/health care proxies for our clients in addition to other estate planning documents. We do not offer "Cookie Cutter" solutions, and despite perceived savings, simple wills are complex for heirs if something more detailed would have served the client's interest more effectively.

We know it is of utmost importance to our clients that they be able to take care of their loved ones and provide security for their families upon their death. This cannot be effectively done unless the client's personal planning and any business interest is coordinated and the result puts the various family members in the situation that the client desires.
