About John

John Sarai received his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center. He received his B.S. degree with honors in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge with an emphasis in Business Law and a minor in Political Science. John was President of the Association of Business Law Students during his undergrad studies and received the Business Law Department’s Scholarship award. While in law school, John’s studies focused on corporate and securities law and his activities included being Chair of the Association of Business Law Students.

John interned for the Office of the State Attorney’s capital crimes division in Miami, and also clerked for the court-appointed Receiver in a $300 million Ponzi Scheme suit brought by the S.E.C. As an attorney, John was an associate at California’s largest consumer bankruptcy firm before co-founding SM Law Group. He has discharged millions of dollars through successful business and consumer bankruptcies which have helped his clients save their homes, businesses, and financial futures. John is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice in the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.

In his spare time, John enjoys boating, watersports, and coaching youth basketball.

John’s areas of practice include personal injury litigation, insurance bad faith claims, and consumer and corporate bankruptcy and restructuring.
