About John
John Whitaker is the founder of Whitaker Law Group. For more than a decade and a half, John has been practing intellectual property law. His focus is on helping his clients secure and enforce their intellectual property rights. He has extensive experience in the computer arts, including software and hardware.
John's practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law, with special emphasis on the litigation of intellectual property disputes. John also has extensive experience helping his clients obtain and secure patent rights, most notably in the areas of computer software and hardware, telecommunications, and related technologies. An innate desire to learn combined with engineering work experience enable him to assist his clients with technologies ranging from the ordinary to the complex.
John also counsels clients on IP portfolio strategy and management, performs due diligence investigations, patent invalidity and non-infringement research, and other tasks related to intellectual property. He graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (1991) and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Cumberland School of Law (1996), where he was a member of the Cumberland Law Review. The Copyright Infringement Advisor is a blog that John maintains to keep the public aware of goings on in the area of copyright infringement litigation.
