He was also a semi-finalist in the Robert H. Staton Moot Court competition, held annually at I.U. McKinney School of Law. Troy interned with Indianapolis-based Thomas Law Firm, P.C., gaining valuable experience in several areas of practice. Troy is admitted to practice law in Indiana, as well as the United States District Court of Northern Indiana, and the United States District Court of Southern Indiana. Troy is a member of several civic and faith-based service organizations, and is an active member of the Indianapolis volunteer community.
