About Jonathan
Jonathan Levine has been associated with Silver Golub & Teitell since 1990, and has been a member of the firm since 1999. Since joining the firm, Mr. Levine has specialized in employment and commercial litigation, constitutional law as well as medical malpractice and personal injury. Most recently, in 2001, he was co-counsel in a medical malpractice action which settled before trial for $15 million. In the last six years, he has been co-counsel in five jury trials resulting in judgments for the plaintiff in excess of $1 million. He was also co-counsel for the State of Connecticut in litigation brought by the State against cigarette manufacturers to recover for the public health costs of smoking, and is currently counsel in suits on behalf of four individual smokers.
Mr. Levine has also maintained an extensive appellate practice, both on behalf of individual clients and as amicus curiae or “friend of the court” on behalf of various organizations in Connecticut Supreme Court appeals involving important issues of public policy. These have included several death penalty appeals, In re Valerie D., a case involving the termination of parental rights, as well as the landmark school desegregation case of Sheff v. O’Neill.
Mr. Levine received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and his law degree from Yale Law School. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the District of Connecticut and the Southern District of New York as well as the Bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
