Jose M. Quinon is a nationally recognized criminal defense attorney, who excels in the representation of individuals and corporations at trial and on appeal in federal and state courts.  He is a passionate and determined lawyer who brings more than 34 years of experience to the important task of representing his clients.

 As one of the leading attorneys in his field, Mr. Quinon has enjoyed enormous success throughout his career.  He has successfully represented clients in some of the most publicized trials in South Florida.  After leaving the State Attorney's Office in 1983, as a Major Crimes Prosecutor under Janet Reno, Mr. Quinon's first case as a defense lawyer resulted in a not guilty verdict for police officer Ernesto Urtiaga.  This case involved a charge of manslaughter against an on-duty police officer, and was one of the cases that became popularly known as the Miami Riot cases.  Mr. Urtiaga's acquittal was the first of many highly publicized cases to follow.

 Mr. Quinon also successfully represented police officer Armando Estrada, the lead defendant in the famous Miami River Cops case.  He likewise successfully represented Raul Martinez, who was the Mayor of Hialeah, the fifth most populous city in Florida.  Mayor Martinez's defense was a veritable marathon that took a successful appeal and three jury trials before federal prosecutors decided to give up, and the Mayor ended up the winner.  Mr. Quinon also won the acquittal of the Chief of Staff of a Miami-Dade County Commissioner in the highly publicized Miami Port case, as well as a not guilty verdict in an internationally publicized federal case of an individual charged in a conspiracy to assassinate a head of state, the acquittal of a doctor charged with Medicare fraud while working at a clinic, and many other not guilty verdicts in varied cases.  Mr. Quinon has demonstrated exceptional ability to win acquittals in trials, and to successfully resolve cases during the investigative setting.

 Mr. Quinon has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1995.  He has also been recognized by Florida SuperLawyers, Florida Trend's Legal Elite, and many other publications recognizing leading lawyers who practice in Florida and throughout the United States.

 Mr. Quinon has lectured on different areas relating to criminal law, including Winning Through Cross Examination, at the National CLE Conference in Steamboat, Colorado; Excelling in Opening Arguments, sponsored by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, in Washington, D.C., and others sponsored by diverse organizations. He has also has been interviewed and quoted by numerous publications, including The Miami Herald, The New York Times, The Sun-Sentinel, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, and The Daily Business Review. 
 
 Mr. Quinon has been admitted to practice in the state courts of Florida, and many federal courts including the Southern and Middle District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He has also represented clients in many states such as New York, California, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

 Born in Camaguey, Cuba, Mr. Quinon graduated from Seton Hall University in 1972, with a degree in Business Administration. In 1975, he graduated from Rutgers University, School of Law at Newark, with a Juris Doctor degree.
