About Joseph
Joseph J. Capetola, is a partner at Misiano Shulman Capetola & Kessler, LLP. He is the head of the litigation department and handles all of the firm's significant trial work. His areas of expertise are twofold. He is both a negligence trial attorney, as well as a litigator of an assortment of employment related matters, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation and class action wage/hour cases.
Mr. Capetola was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1985. He is also admitted in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He has tried a myriad of cases to verdict in both the State and Federal Courts.
Mr. Capetola has had several multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. His reputation has made him a magnet for clients seeking top-notch representation for serious injury matters and labor and employment matters where his clients have been wronged in the workplace. As a result, he is considered one of the premier trial attorneys in Nassau and Suffolk Counties in Long Island and the New York City Metropolitan area.
Mr. Capetola is a member of the Nassau County and New York State Bar Associations, as well as the National Association of Trial Attorneys.
Mr. Capetola graduated from St. John's University School of Law in 1984 and remains active in alumni affairs. He received his bachelor's degree in English from Colgate University in 1981. At Colgate, he was the sports editor of the school newspaper, The Colgate Maroon, and played junior varsity basketball.
Mr. Capetola remains very involved in his local community's athletic programs where he coaches a variety of youth sports, including an AAU basketball program.
Mr. Capetola lives in the Village of Garden City with his wife and three children. He enjoys sports of all kinds and is an avid golfer and tennis player.
