About Joshua
Professional Experience:
Joshua S. Whitt joined the firm upon admission to the bar in November 2003. Since that time, he has concentrated his practice in the representation of school districts and other taxing bodies which host nuclear power plants and other large special purpose properties. In that capacity, Mr. Whitt has become one of the State’s leading experts on the deregulation of the electric utility industry and its impact upon electricity prices and the valuation of nuclear facilities for property tax purposes.
Mr. Whitt has regularly appeared before municipalities on behalf of the firm’s school clients in securing imposition of capital facilities development impact fees, transition fees and improved land/cash ordinances. He has also worked extensively with three large suburban school districts in the management, defense and settlement of lien claims and litigation resulting from the bankruptcy filing of a large general contractor.
In Springfield, Mr. Whitt regularly advocates the interests of public school districts before the General Assembly and other State agencies.
While in law school, Mr. Whitt had the privilege of working on the Republican staff of the Judiciary Committee of the United States House of Representatives.
