About Judy
Principal attorney with practice concentrations in health law, nonprofit organizations, tax exempt entities, private foundations, taxation, business and corporate law, and estate planning, including wills, trusts, power of attorney and health care proxies.
Ms. Overholt's years of experience representing individuals and entities focused initially around tax issues, from how to create and operate a nonprofit organization to complex tax planning for families passing wealth to future generations. Her practice includes all aspects of the life cycle of the family business: structuring the initial entity to achieve maximum tax benefits while maintaining flexibility for future transitioning of the closely held business; structuring executive compensation benefits, split dollar insurance arrangements, non-qualified deferred compensation; and termination of the business entity.
Her practice grew by working with physician groups in the nonprofit arena to encompass all aspects of health law as it impacts on a physician's practice, including contracting with hospitals, vendors and other practitioners, counseling on employee issues, medical record issues or responding to subpoenas in today's new HIPAA environment.
