About Kara
KARA I. SCHECHTER RAKOWSKI became a partner of the firm in 1999. Ms. Rakowski has been associated with the firm since 1991.
Ms. Rakowski handles matters in two distinct practice areas; administrative law and foreclosure. With regard to administrative law, Ms. Rakowski has represented owners in numerous proceedings before the New York State Division of Housing & Community Renewal, New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development, New York City Environmental Control Board and New York City Commission on Human Rights. She has also represented owners in litigation challenging determinations made by these agencies. Ms. Rakowski has a broad knowledge of and has advised many owners regarding their compliance with city, state and federal lead-paint regulations.
As to foreclosures, Ms. Rakowski has handled numerous matters pertaining to mortgage foreclosures of both residential and commercial properties, as well as condominium units, and actions to foreclose condominium liens.
Ms. Rakowski is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bars, and is admitted to practice in the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York and the U.S. District Court of New Jersey.
