Plaintiff: Attorney for the plaintiff, Corey Cruz. Corey was employed by the defendant, DMSO Staffing, LLC. The plaintiff was injured while working for the defendant. He sought medical treatment and had two surgeries following the diagnosis of a herniated disc. He filed a worker's compensation claim which was denied. Cruz filed suit against his employer and their insurance agency. The court found in favor of the plaintiff and he was awarded a settlement. The defendants appealed this decision. Upon review the case the appeals court overruled the defendants argument in favor of the plaintiff. The judgment and award was affirmed.
MILLER v STANLEY COUNTY SCHOOLS
Attorney for the Plaintiff in a school shooting case in which a teenage student was shot twice while at school that resulted in serious, life-changing injuries. Counsel for the Plaintiff argued that the school district should have taken the shooter's violent past and not placed him with the general population. The shooter previously stabbed another student while attending high school in a different district. Although the school district never admitted wrong, they settled out of court.
