About Kenneth
Ken is a Dayton native, having been born at The Miami Valley Hospital in 1955. Having lived in the Dayton area all of his life, other than during his college years, Ken is very familiar with and is invested in the Dayton area as well as in the clients he has served in private practice for almost 31 years.
After attending Fairview and Meadowvale high schools, Ken earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Miami University (Ohio) in 1978, and his Law Degree from The Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 1981. After law school Ken and his high school sweetheart and wife of 33 years Janice returned to the Dayton area to live, and to practice law. While Ken built a practice and Janice worked as an educator, they raised 3 sons, all of whom attended Northmont High School, played high school soccer, and met with the academic success necessary to attend and achieve bachelor’s degrees from The Ohio State University and Ohio University.
Ken has practiced in general practice in Dayton since 1981, having worked with Theodore M. Arnovitz from 1981-1983, and having practiced with Jeffrey P. Albert from 1983 to the present. Ken and Jeff formed Albert & Krochmal in 1990. While Ken has handled cases in various practice areas including criminal/traffic matters and bankruptcy cases, he has practiced primarily family law (domestic relations/divorce/custody/support/juvenile) for many years. Besides maintaining memberships in The Dayton Bar Association, The Ohio Bar Association, The Thomas F. Waldron American Bankruptcy Law Forum and The Stanley Z. Greenburg Family Law Forum, Ken is a past chairman of The Dayton Bar Association Family Law Committee, and has chaired presentations for these organizations. Ken has, on hundreds of occasions, been appointed by the Court to act as guardian ad litem to make recommendations to the Court in custody and parenting time cases. This work, Ken believes, has earned him the respect of his judges and his peers. He also believes that his clients have benefited from the insight he has gained by his involvement in many custody and parenting time matters. Ken understands the challenging and emotionally difficult times in which his domestic relations clients find themselves, and prides himself on being a careful and compassionate listener and advocate. Ken has also given back to the legal community by accepting pro bono work for The Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Ken feels strongly that having a variety of interests helps him remain vital and in tune with his life, his family, and his clients. Ken is passionate about music, and is fortunate to have the opportunity to play his guitar frequently in local venues. Ken has played guitar for Blind Justice, a Dayton area classic rock band made up of primarily lawyers, for more than 20 years. Also, Ken has set a fitness example for himself and his family by being an avid runner for many years, having run and finished 21 marathons and many shorter running events. Currently Ken primarily enjoys bicycle riding for fitness and his motorcycle for pleasure. Ken has also enjoyed family ski vacations in Colorado for many years, and currently enjoys visiting his children and his 2 grandchildren while there.
