Jane Butcher was born in Martin, Kentucky and attended Margaret Hall School in Versailles, Kentucky. She graduated from Collins High School in West Virginia and went on to attend George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Ms. Butcher graduated with B.A. degrees in political science and philosophy from Eastern Kentucky University. Ms. Butcher received a Master’s Degree from the University of Kentucky and went on to the prestigious Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana where she received her J.D. degree in 1981. As a student at Tulane University, Ms. Butcher clerked for Hon. J. Bennett Johnston, United States Senator in Washington, D.C. Ms. Butcher returned to Kentucky and began her legal career opening the Butcher Law Office, PLLC in 1983 where she concentrated her legal practice in the area of criminal defense, divorce and family law. She has handled thousands of criminal cases, including death penalty and homicide cases. She has also dedicated her career to representing many clients in their divorce, child custody, and adoption cases.
