About Kim

Attorney Kim Coleman, a passionate and zealous advocate for criminal and constitutional rights, came to the law after a diversified career. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, in Finance and Banking from the University of Bridgeport in 1986, Coleman worked for several Fortune 500 companies as an accountant. With this experience, she entered the legal field as a forensic accountant involved in the analyzation and preparation of complicated and protracted legal actions. Coleman was also instrumental in the successful completion of a $43 million dollar start up company and served as an officer on its Board of Directors.

Coleman has extensive experience in all facets of criminal representation, including suppression, evidentiary and procedural issues, DNA evidence, and violations of constitutional rights. She has extensive criminal trial experience and has written briefs and argued several novel legal theories in both the trial and appellate courts. In addition to her criminal experience, Coleman is experienced in civil right actions, including false arrest, excessive force, violations of constitutional rights, employment firing and discrimination, CHRO complaints, and ADA claims in both state and federal courts. An area of special interest to Attorney Coleman is the First Amendment and Free Speech, or the lack of it.

Presently admitted to practice in Connecticut and the Connecticut Federal District Court and 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, Coleman is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and the Connecticut Bar Association. She volunteers as a judge for the High School Mock Trials in Connecticut, as well as for area law school competitions.
